And I think that spotlight also gets, you know, creates an ego on a lot of players.
And you look at Mitch Marner, he's got to be loving life right now, being out of the Toronto spotlight, not having to perform in front of the microphones every day and not being obliterated for any errant pass or missed back check.
You can just come back and play the next game.
And, you know, I think Toronto gets the best of too many people.
Well, as I said, you know, years ago when I was recruiting players for minor league teams, he was a great guy to speak with and gave you the honest lowdown on everyone.
And I didn't really know anyone.
He was introduced to me by someone else.
And I found him very he was fascinating because he was trying to work like he's like a lot of those guys.
Dave King, Ken Hitchcock, Andy Murray.
Guys like that that never play, they've got to outwork everybody because there's a little bit of an inferiority complex.
He did play places, but that doesn't count.
He didn't play in the big leagues, didn't play in the A, as all those other people that I mentioned.
And Bill Peters is in that category as well.
And I think they come across, every single one of those guys I mentioned, comes across as very stiff, very tough in the room the way he spoke to players.
But I always used to kind of laugh it off because by today's standards and how soft everything is and how everyone's got an opinion on social media,
Every single coach that I had, I guess, was a bully.
And every single coach that I had wouldn't be able to keep his job today because of the things they said to us.
But, you know, it's kind of normal at any level of pro hockey and a junior.
And a junior, it was far worse how these people spoke to you and the treatments.
You know, it was just a different world, and I think you've got to adapt or die.
