But usually it's women electing to do that because they're worried that at some point they'll want a child and they'll no longer be fertile.

And that worry, that anxiety is something that's very much monetized, arguably exploited.

I had so many kind of philosophical conversations during my research with people

outside and inside the industry about what that line is.

I had a really interesting conversation with a surrogacy lawyer in California, where I kind of said, look, it seems to me there is an exploitative nature sometimes in the promises that are made to these people who are desperate for children.

Is there an element of exploitation?

And he was like, absolutely not.

It's just taking advantage of a need that exists.

And we had this sort of weird semantic discussion about what the difference is between taking advantage and exploitation.

And then I realized that he was coming at it from quite a kind of, well, obviously a very capitalist, but a kind of business perspective of taking advantage as a positive thing.

Like there's a market that exists.

Let's take advantage of it.

As opposed to like, is there a vulnerability about this particular patient stroke consumer demographic that we should be more careful of exploiting?

So that's what came out to me from that conversation and other conversations.

I thought it was very interesting that the future fertility fair was actually part of a bigger fair that was the future beauty fair or something, show, trade show.
