Think about what that means.
Not that, oh, we have a different view and so we want to make an example out of Alex Boris.
And they want to do that not because I have ideas that are outside the mainstream or, you know, when I proposed my framework, I got praise from those on the left.
Also, the chief futurist of OpenAI retweeted it.
They're coming after me because I successfully passed the bill.
Frameworks, there's lots of frameworks.
Those are cheap.
Who's going to put political capital forward and get something actually done?
And they tried to prevent any states from moving forward by putting this preemption language in legislation that failed.
So they instead got this executive order from Donald Trump to target states that want to regulate AI and try to extract punishment.
They would cut off funding, that they would sue the states, and it targeted the RAISE Act along with a few other bills throughout the country.
So why are they coming after me?
Because I might actually get a bill passed.
It is the strongest AI safety bill in the country, and I'm embarrassed by that fact.
It's that there's any regulation whatsoever.
That really is the challenge.
And that there is any regulation that they have to play by any rules is such an anathema to them.
And they don't have to win forever.
They only have to push this off for an election cycle or two.
The speed with which AI is developing, the amount of political power, let alone capital that they will have to deploy in the future, will be unbounded.
