I suppose it's a good thing to say you watched him play when he was kind of on his way up really.

Yeah, so two weeks before I won the European amateur at Walton Heath and the winner of that got a spot in the Open.

So it was all very last minute.

And then being the best amateur there was unbelievable, really.

It put me on the map, opened up a lot of doors and also gave me the confidence that one day I might be able to compete at the highest level.

The first two rounds I played with Ablam Lahiri, Wesley Bryant.

And then the third round I played with Thomas Peters.

And then the final round I played with Brandon Stone.

Well, you know, it was...

With the atmosphere, as you said, and all the people, that's something that I could never practice.

I never knew how I was going to handle.

So, you know, it was literally first tee, you know, all the people like shouting and screaming.

We had loads of fans come up with their flags and everything.

So it was a little bit like a football match at one point.

But, you know, I didn't really know how I was going to deal with that until that moment, really.

And, you know, I'm just, well, I was just over the moon that I managed to get through it and be able to compete.

I'm always a big believer, you know, you've got to feed off the atmosphere and try and use it to your advantage.

For how nervous I was, adrenaline and excitement kind of took it over and, you know, you've just got to kind of embrace it.

So, yeah.

that I was I was so it was on the Friday night I still got two rounds to play but we kind of took over the one of the hospitality tents there's probably a hundred of us in there all singing all dancing there's beers flowing it's that because I basically already won you know but I'm like I'm only halfway through the tournament here so it was tough to pull away from the celebrations but unfortunately for my brother I just made sure I had plenty of balls in the bag I was like right as long as we finish this
