This is one of the most delicate conversations is when an author is told they should probably use a ghostwriter or a coauthor.
It is not
the default practice for nonfiction, but it's quite common if the person is coming to write nonfiction, not because their primary job is author.
So someone whose primary job is author is a journalist or someone who, you know, is a essayist or someone who is leading with writing.
So that category of writer, which is the type of writer I tend to work with for my own, this is what my own preference is.

So you are a well-known neuroscientist or dramatologist, or you're giving business advice.

And writing is a skill.

It's a profession.
It's incredibly difficult.
Just because you could write a great email or even give a great talk doesn't mean you could write a whole book.
And when I was writing my own book, I'd come across this a couple times with writers who I was maybe interested in writing, working with because they were experts but not writers.
And I had to have a difficult conversation with them saying, I think you should hire someone.
And there's always pushback because people hear that they're bad writers.
