And what you're hearing actually is you're not a professional writer.
And I interviewed an editor I really respect, an editor and publisher I really respect to get her like straight talk on this, Karen Rinaldi.
I interviewed her on my book and she does a lot of prescriptive books or how-to books, often co-written.
And Karen used this analogy where she said, I've worked on a lot of books on neuroscience.
I know a lot about the brain.
No one is going to give me a scalpel.
and have me operate on their brain.
Right?
So I would say to our friend here, if multiple publishing professionals, people who do this for a living, are interested in your book, which is a huge bar, bravo, and are saying you need a writer, people who do this for a living, who judge writing for a living, are saying you need a writer, I think that's a worthwhile thing to strongly consider.
And I would say too, and I hadn't thought of this until you said the thing about the time and the space.
If you are an expert, again, I'm guessing by the types of publishers interested, you're an expert in a subject matter.
Sometimes an expert is not necessarily the best person to translate the expertise, but a professionalized writer.
They're so close to it.
A professionalized writer, someone who, there are writers who do just this, that they are ghostwriters, you know, who specialize in subjects.
Like I do self-help books.
I do psychology.
I do business.
They'll know how to pull it out and structure it in a way that someone who's not an expert in what you are an expert in can really understand it.
I love this question because it's one I'd like to reframe.
