I've done it, you know, I've done it.
Yeah, that's the moment, I think.
Yeah, for sure.
Yeah, I think there's been a bit of a journey for me in learning how to approach that.
I think when I started Heartstopper, you know, my only goal was to tell Nick and Charlie's story.
There was no, like, you know, I need to write good representation.
I was just writing this story about these characters that I loved.
Then, obviously, as you get an audience...
Naturally, particularly when you're writing for teenagers, you do feel some responsibility.
You don't want to misrepresent anyone's experience and you want the things that you're writing about to be truthful and real and honest, particularly when you're writing about contemporary teenage issues.
But then, after that, I sort of had to slowly learn...
you can't tell every single experience in the world in one book.
You can only, you know, you have to be specific.
Um, and yeah, I think just, you know, ultimately you, you have to balance.
I think you do have to go back to why you're writing it and why you started writing it and what your vision for the story is.
Um,
But, you know, it also, like, with Heartstopper specifically, I'm very aware that it's helped so many people.
And that is a big part of why people are drawn to Heartstopper.
And I want to make sure that those people, you know, continue to feel supported by Heartstopper, I think.
Well, it's hard to say because, yeah, I had no understanding of my own sexuality as a teenager.
