What are the hallmarks of a healthy relationship?
Uh okay, so I think the idea to be able to communicate your needs and to be able to communicate to first of all to know what your needs are.
I think it actually starts there.
It starts with your own self-awareness.
If you've got somebody, two people in a relationship who are completely blind to their own um ways of being and aren't really interested in.
reflecting or learning about why they behave in a certain way or why they responded a certain way.
that's gonna be very difficult to work with.
So the idea of being open to your own self awareness is really, really key.
Um and within that then knowing maybe what your needs are in a relationship and being able to ask for them um and ask for them to be respected.
I think that that's really a fundamental part of a
A strong relationship is knowing what your needs are, asking them to be met, and also being able to withstand the disappointment if they're not met.
And it doesn't mean it's the end of the relationship.
I think relationships have to have a sense of robustness and have to be able to navigate the cut and thrust of disappointment.
Like life is hard.
Relationships are hard.
And couples therapy is really hard.
I suppose I'll say that, that um
Yeah, couples therapy is it's it's very confronting and it challenges couples in all sorts of ways.
But it's really, really rewarding when couples are willing to make the changes that they need to make in order to make their relationship kind of thrive rather than just survive.
