So there's a lot of different ways.
How I would start, you do want a routine within the play because bedtime is an area where you need a routine.
But very simple things, heavy work, we call it proprioceptive input.
Is very calming.
You want to give your child heavy work, but you can't just say here's some heavy work.
So creating a game within, whether it's
Before we go to bed, we have this laundry basket and we have all of our stuffies and all of our
things that we like inside of it that make it heavy and they like to go on a little ride before we go to bed.
So we need to push them through the hallway and start to calm them.
It helps to rock them to bed.
Now you're giving your child proprioceptive input, which is very calming, before bed.
You're creating a structure that, oh look, we calm our stuffies, this also calms our body.
So you're pushing this heavy laundry basket filled with their things that you're calming throughout.
your house, of course, you have to not mind that they push the laundry basket on your floors.
But
After that point, oh, we have to all go and clean our teeth and then we brush our teeth.
And you may brush your teeth before whatever works better for your child.
Then you may have your next play routine where you're in some sort of imaginary world with your child as you're going to sleep, but it always has to be calming.
So you're always thinking nothing alerting.
