any sort of big, big fast movements.

So you're winding them down.

You're keeping them calm.

You're giving them the inputs they need, but you're creating a story around it.

So you're doing it through play.

And the truth is they will evolve the story.

and you have to be willing to follow their lead.

The other thing I always say is if you watch a child, their bodies truly know what they need.

A kid goes towards the sensory input that they're craving, towards the sensory input that they need.

As parents, we want to kind of shape what they're doing, but if you just follow their lead, you will figure out what they need.

Can you give me an example of that?

Yeah, so we have a big sensory gym with a foam pit, swings, rock wall.

The first thing I do when I'm evaluating a child is I we go into the gym and I say to the child, anything you want, go for it.

We see a few different things.

Some kids will immediately go to the foam pit.

There's an area off the foam pit where they can jump and crash.

They'll be jumping and crashing.

And I'm thinking, oh, that child is needs more heavy work, more proprioceptivement, but they're having trouble regulating.
