And you can meal prep these and just have them easy to grab.
So I'm thinking like for a morning where maybe you have a holiday meal, instead of just not eating regularly through the day or say you're busy with holiday plans, you're shopping and things like that, having these quick go-tos in between errands, on a day that you're cooking, maybe a holiday meal all day,
can help keep your digestion stable and give your gut that predictability.
And if you use cooked vegetables and well-cooked soft foods, it can also help make digestion go easier.
So when stress is high or digestion isn't working quite as well, the softer fiber is easier to manage.
And then really just keeping the plate balanced with some cooked produce, a comfortable carb and protein helps to stabilize those hunger swings, stabilize your blood sugar and keep you from eating more later in the day, which can make your digestion feel overwhelmed.
And then I love this suggestion.
And I wonder what you think about this, Dr. Navidi, but
we tell our clients to do some slow, deep breaths right before you eat.
And this is a great way to deactivate that stress response.
And so for much of the day, we're in a stress mode.
This is just the state of our modern lifestyles.
And that's even more true during the holiday season.
So that actually pinches off the signaling that the brain is
normally would send the gut to start producing what it needs to produce to digest food, to move food through at the right pace, to help your stomach empty, for example, so you don't feel overly bloated, to help your stomach start producing acid, start releasing enzymes in bile.
So if we take slow, deep breaths into the belly for even just a couple minutes before eating, it deactivates that stressed mode, that sympathetic nervous system, and gets us into rest and digest mode.
And so it opens up that signaling so that we can digest our food better.
What do you think about that, Dr. Navidi?
Yeah, that's a really good point.
I have heard people say who have never done it before that at first the breathing can feel strange.
