That last voice there belongs to Jane Carrigan, who has long worked as an advocate in the disability sector.
She joins me today to explain why she's so anti the bill.
We will hear more from Jane in a moment, including her role in a landmark disability court ruling.
But first, RNZ's national health correspondent, Kate Green.
Now, she's covered all aspects of the story and has all the details about the bill.
So talk us through that.
What exactly is the worry?
Why are they so up in arms on this?
Because they do seem genuinely upset about this.
Jane Carrigan was intimately involved in getting that Supreme Court win in December last year.
That was 2018.
That same year, Jane met another caregiving parent in the same position.
Now they applied to the Crown for 40 hours a week of paid work.
It was a landmark win, a huge moment for them.
Jane insists she wasn't trying to meddle with the disability policy, which she described as opaque, technical and tricky.
She just wanted the parents to get the help and the support they deserved.
Now, the government says the new bill will improve consistency, fairness, transparency and sustainability in disability support, while clarifying funding, assessments and the role of family carers.
Here is Minister Louise Upston in a pre-recorded video promoting the bill, which she says was formed after consultation with the disability community.
That was last year.
This is the Minister last month after acknowledging the care of carers is currently insufficient.
