It's almost a dangerous approach for some parties now.
I think the only one that still sort of stands that way is Epsom with David Seymour.
But because he's become such a profile in and of himself, it's almost moved away from that tactical approach and they just see him as the voice of Epsom now.
Before the last election, three years ago, Luxon did change his tune on Epsom.
He is almost an anomaly in that space, and Epsom is almost an anomaly in that space.
And you even see it now where in Wellington at the last election, there was no deals done between Labour and the Greens.
The Greens actually just took on Labour in those spaces.
So I think there is probably going to be not a lot of room for that kind of approach now.
And part of it is because a lot of voters have become quite entrenched in who they are voting for, and they are very committed to the party that they like, or at least committed to the side of the vote, the right or the left that they vote for.
The biggest difference when it comes to split voting is actually in the Māori electorates.
So you do see
quite pronounced split voting in the Māori electorates because you often see voters voting for a Māori Party candidate for the electorate and
One of the other parties tends to be Labour in their party vote, so that's where it's slightly more pronounced.
What is your take on National came out very tough at the weekend, basically calling the coalition partners children, and, you know, you've got to vote for mum and dad.
And how clear they were.
Were you surprised how hard they came out on Vote Only National?
Don't look at a big picture here.
I wasn't particularly surprised.
The actual election period is only three months.
But the election started in January when the prime minister set the election date.
