And education was very important to both my mother and my father.
My father saw it as the way of, you know, getting through Australia's society of experiencing class mobility.
And my mother had to leave school when she was 13 and it had always sat... I think she felt a lot of shame over the fact that she had not been able to complete her education as she wished to.
And she went and did that as an adult, but there was a lot of pressure...
on me to perform from an education point of view.
And I kind of hit my teens and just was like, why am I doing this?
Like, why am I being such a people pleaser?
This is absolutely not achieving anything.
There is so much injustice in the world.
My family
is where it is because of that injustice.
And they've decided to lean in, but I'm not sure that that is the best way through this.
And my grandmother, my father's mother, was just such a force of a human.
She had lost children to war.
She had had to rebuild her life multiple times.
