But I stand by the fact that I am genuinely surprised that he was only convicted of the lesser charge.

I felt like proof that he had thought about this, that he had researched this hike, that he had looked into his options, that there were plenty of other best hikes in this area, that he chose a hike that was dangerous.
He chose a hike that had steep cliffs.
And he was trying to get her and urging her to continue, even though she was scared, even though she didn't want to go on those steep reversions.
On her birthday, by the way,
he was trying to get her to follow him.
So anyway, I thought that was the most surprising part of this, that it took so long for the jury to get there and that they only convicted him on the lesser charge, given all of the evidence.
