There's a lot of documented archival of Ed Kemper sitting with law enforcement.

And really talking about what motivated him and what the crimes were like.

And so we wanted to explore that story through that archival and really get an understanding of what happened through his own perspective and his own motivations.

And so that's what the documentary is about.

Did you meet him personally?

I didn't meet him personally.

At the time, I was executive in charge of production.

So I was overseeing all of production management, all the boring things in TV, which is the money and the schedule and the budget and all.

You know, this was right after Mindhunter came out.

Okay.

And I remember watching that and...

We were developing this for Oxygen and the idea of meeting with John Douglas, who I just saw, by the way, at CrimeCon.

And I just was so starstruck.

But remembering it was such a huge get because he was so, him and Robert Ressler were really at the forefront of, they were just trailblazers for their time.

And it was just a huge get.

And I remember being really excited that we landed him for the show.

Yes, and I could be having a moment.

I believe, like, I forget what his formal title is, but he's a criminal psychologist.

But they, Robert Ressler and John Douglas, and this is my understanding, they really created the behavioral science unit of the FBI.

And they were, like, the beginning stages of really unpacking
