Because she had gone cold turkey at this stage.
This was in May.
She had gone cold turkey.
She'd gone off all her painkillers to try and get into the Rutland Centre here in Dublin because they wouldn't take her unless she was cold turkey because, you know, addiction places aren't going to take you unless you're clean, to be fair.
Yeah.
So, and that's where all the erratic behaviour came from because she was in so much pain and she was so like, you know, kind of struggling with the lack of the painkillers that she was going 90 on these cans and being violent and stuff.
But anyway, she was kind of being normal again.
And I was like, that's mum, like, you know, we're going to turn it around.
And then I wasn't to know at the time, but that was the last time I saw her alive.
Yeah.
Yeah, at the funeral, yeah.
Yeah, and my granny, her mom was up with her and like it was this really, really fancy afters.
It was in like Malahide Hotel, like a view of the sea.
We were eating fish and like it was...
you know like really fancy fish as well not just fish and chips and she was delighted with herself and she was laughing and we were having the crack like I said like we used to we had the same sense of humor we used to laugh at everything we were laughing for the first time in years like and there was her like I was like that's mum like and she was chatting to my girlfriend's family and you know making an unbelievable first impression on everyone and that was the first time she'd met them all yeah yeah yeah can you remember parting from her that day
Yeah so she drove me and my granny up so I was a bit nervous but like my granny runs a strict program like you know so I knew that there'd be no funny business so I was like that's grand and I gave her a big hug and you know like when she'd come down off of like all the drugs all the cans and stuff like when she was being normal she'd be so remorseful and regretful and apologetic and
She'd be telling me and my brother that we're great and she appreciated the support and the love so much and that she was going to do it and she's going to get better.
And she was afraid of failing, but she was going to do it like.
And that's what made the rejections from these hospitals so difficult, because like, you know, like when she was being normal, like she wanted to be there.
