I remember sitting in a meeting with one of the occupational therapists and the occupational therapist dialed the number on her phone, handed it to my mom and was like, call them, Thelma.
They will change your life.
And she's like, no, I don't want to be away for 22 weeks.
That's why she went cold turkey to try and get into the Rutlands because they would only take her for like six weeks.
So it was just all these things of like you bring the horse to the water but you can't make them drink.
It's what she wanted.
That was really it.
It was kind of similar viewing to my dad.
She was in so much pain and suffering and she had tried to end it all so many times.
There's only so many times where I kind of felt like
hopefully she'll be happier now do you know what i mean like and she'll be with her husband which is what she wanted this whole time that's why she was doing all this stuff so that she would hallucinate and that they could be together and do you know yeah it's like she was a very unwell woman yeah so i always say this and i kind of say this to my brother because he's quite angry about it all he kind of feels abandoned that like mum left us and stuff and
I see it like dad got a terminal illness and died from it.

Because they say addiction is a disease and I really, really believe that.
So, you know, dad got this disease, he fought like hell and he died.
