Um we are uh we have a bounty of resources that those markets need to grow.
grow and sustain their populations evolving into, you know, a middle class.
So we have a lot of the things those people need.
That has ensured uh that, you know, we've created incredible wealth.
Australia is one of the richest countries in the world.
Uh when you add superannuation and then housing stock together, per capita we are one of the richest persons uh countries in the world.
I think top two or three.
Yeah, that's uh absolutely true.
Although even on those metrics, Australia does generally better than most developed countries in terms of you know things like Gini coefficient or the gap between um income levels of the top decile or quintile compared to um those at the at the bottom end.
But it's not to say it doesn't need constant attention.
Uh it certainly does because the more I
unequal a society, I think the uh the the the worst uh outcomes around, you know, safety, crime, all those types of things.
And that's one area where, you know, Australia really, really uh does well and we've got to be mindful of that and social case.
Yeah.
So social cohesion.
The the thing I if I could, the thing I uh think we need to push into though is around uh enabling productivity and making it easier for businesses to be successful.
We recently uh at NAB uh issued a a a paper, a research paper around conversations that we've had with businesses and small businesses up and down the country around
What h gets in the way of them growing and and scaling their businesses?
Uh and, you know, things like red tape, the burden of taxation, the the the general theme that's just hard to get things done here really uh came through.
And so while we have all these amazing uh capabilities and benefits that I alluded to a few moments ago, it's also true that we're struggling to drive productivity in the country.
