And at the end of the day, um if we are unable to drive productivity, that will impact living standards.
Because living standards are a function of population growth, population participation in the workforce and productivity.
Um and we're not getting anywhere near enough productivity right now because it's too hard to get things done.
So is that a
Yeah, although
It's worse here.
Uh and uh you know, I think when you look at uh comparables of the l top thirty or forty OECD countries and how they rank on productivity, I think Australia's in the bottom three or four uh countries on that measure and has been for the last few years.
Uh so it's something that we particularly need to lean into.
Uh it's it's all sorts of things.
It's how much research and development activity
uh is going on here, how much of our economy uh and our labour force is in uh high productivity sectors and industries, technology um in particular, um biotech, fintech, all these areas that are creating economic value.
I don't think we have enough businesses being created in those areas.
Uh and I think that's problematic and something that needs to be looked at.
So how do we how do we make that happen?
Well, we've we've got to get more businesses being started and those businesses becoming uh uh bigger and more successful.
Uh here's a fact for you.
If you look at the top fifty companies in the ASX, uh which ones were around fifty years ago?
In Australia, uh the vast majority were of them, yeah.
Yeah.
You probably can look at a couple, you know, Wise Tech, Atlassian, not many.
