And the late, great Andrew Breitbart has this famous quote that –
politics is downstream from culture.
And when we were growing up, I think that the cultural figures that our peer groups and young people admired were actors, actresses, athletes, though people still admire athletes today, but people who really leaned left, not figures who leaned right at all.
And when you look at culture today, who are the people that
young people look up to.
It's entrepreneurs, it's Elon Musk, it's Mark Zuckerberg, it's everyone on that inaugural stage.
And I think as they look up to these figures, they take cues from them.
And when you see them all going to the court of Mar-a-Lago and you see them up on that stage and you see them congratulate the president on Twitter or X in ways that they never felt like they could before, I think that
gave a lot of young people not even permission, but it held the hand of a lot of young people to come along on this MAGA ride.
So that's my take as to the cultural ascendancy of MAGA.
I think it has a lot to do with the tech overlords and the manosphere and business executives and entrepreneurs who young people look up to.
is no longer in culture.
I do think, um, the tariffs and the crashing economy and the global trade war actually played a big role in kind of stopping that ascendancy.
Um, uh, because a lot of young people love day trading.
They, uh, are beginning to be invested in the economy.
With 401Ks, now they have a long way to go.
But even so, when they're reading and seeing news that is not – this is not news where it divides the public, where half the people on this side say one thing and half the people say the other thing.
The economy and the trade war has been a uniting issue of Americans really questioning the purpose of it.
And I think once it began to impact them and their wallets and soon the prices of goods, I think that that confidence slowly began to fade or quickly began to fade.
