Tightly controlled, everything very symmetrical, very visually stunning, hyper-designed, hyper-precise.
In this case, it's set in the American mid-century in the Southwest during the space race and the fascination with outer space.
This beautiful desaturated Kodachrome palette.
So in other words, it's going to be visually stunning.
What I'm constantly looking for from him and I haven't gotten lately is substance.
I don't know that there are any ideas.
His last movie, The French Dispatch, was sort of an ode to The New Yorker, which is right in my wheelhouse.
It's sort of like, I'm there.
And it just didn't really have anything to say.
It was a lot of very clever...
very pretty little set pieces that just did not amount to anything that, you know, I just feel like he, I wish there were, again, I wish there were the care in that writing as there are, as there is in the visual kind of the fetish of it all.

Well, that's about Cannes.
I don't want to be cynical, and I, you know, again, I haven't, I did not go to Cannes this year, so I'm reserving, but, you know, I do think people get swept up in the moment, and Cannes, if Cannes is about anything, it's about worshipping auteurs, and Scorsese is the auteur of the auteur, so I do take it with a grain.

I'm just a little bit wary of it and I'd rather, you know, let's, let's all calm down and we can, we can see the movie, you know, when it's not quite, uh, so hyped up.
