So over the past few months when the country and the whole world have been asked to sort of physically distance ourselves from one another, we knew that this was going to have negative impacts on our mental health.
And unfortunately, certainly in Australia, we have seen the outcome of that.
And now as Melbourne goes into lockdown 2.0, we really need to think about how we're going to actually undertake this challenge differently from what occurred in the past so we don't see these same negative impacts.
So my first advice to people is we need to think about how we can prioritise our relationships, particularly when we're physically distancing ourselves.
But what's important to remember is it's not about social isolation.
So we can still have connections with others.
And what I think is one of the what we're thankful for at this time of our lives is that we've got so much technology around us that we can use to actually strengthen those connections with other people.
So, you know, things like WhatsApp and Zoom and House Party, they're all things that we can leverage to keep those relationships, you know, a focal point.
So, you know, really that would be my number one thing is to think about, you know, each day, how are you getting, you know, a sense of connection from others and, you know, which enables us to experience that feel good hormone oxytocin, which we also know that we need to actually reduce stress and anxiety as well.

And then the other thing to think about as well is the people that you're living with.
So I think what's really important to note is that even though you're seeing these people potentially all day, a really good question to ask at the end of the day, perhaps over the meal is, you know, how was your day?
And, you know, what happened?
What were some of the wins or the losses you may have had?
Because even if you're there, you don't actually know what might have occurred in that other person's day.
So I think it's still really good to sort of do those touch points with, you know, your loved ones, you know, at the end of each day.
I think it sort of brings in two different aspects of wellbeing, which we often talk about, which is the relationship side, but it's also about experiencing positive emotions, which we know we also get from those connections with other people.
So
I guess to think about, as you asked, the quirkiness, I'm talking to people about injecting positivity in their day.
And it might sound maybe a bit bizarre to some people, but just thinking about ways that you can actually, maybe it's just sharing a YouTube clip or
