It's about normalcy. matched

because actually the biggest antidote to feeling so crap is humor yeah and and as you say to have that i'm the same with luana we can talk one minute about yeah being in an absolutely louise it's the same we both we both have postnatal depression we've you know but then the next minute we can be having a corking rate my fart you know you guys are exactly the same we can cross pollinate um but the therapist in terms of making a good therapist you think matched

I totally... And I think it's actually a really good comparison. matched

I think there's a lot of therapists that go into the work because of personal experience, lived experience, and I am one of those. matched

And I would say my clients... matched

typically come to me because of that dual aspect. matched

I think personally for me, it does make me a empathetic therapist. matched

I can't ever completely understand, you know, you never as a therapist say, I understand how you feel, because we can never understand how someone else feels. matched

but I can appreciate how difficult certain situations can feel for people because I myself have been in situations where I haven't understood why I feel as I do. matched

And I say to all my clients, no one asks you to feel as you do, you just do. matched

So let's just accept that, let's accept that for what that is right now and let's move on. matched

But then on the flip side, I've got some wonderful peers of mine that haven't had lived experience and they are fantastic clinicians. matched

So I don't think there's a hard and fast rule about it, but I do know that a lot of people go into this work in the way that I went into the work, which was personal experience of it, kind of saw the light and went, yeah, I fancy paying it forward. matched
