I don't really agree with that analysis.

I think he's basically just opened him up to more opportunities for questions about things he doesn't want to answer in the course of this campaign, because it is essentially about his probity, isn't it?

So I think that's and also just the humiliation of having to run against Count Binface.

No offense to Count Binface and all of these other sort of quirky candidates who I think there's 20 candidates now.

That's right.

That could happen.

But what you'd need is for the people of Clacton to sign a recall petition to say they want to have another election.

That would only require, I think, 7,000 odd people.

So I expect that it would reach that threshold because not everyone in Clacton is a reform voter.

But yes, that could potentially happen, which is...

Would that be politically damaging for him as well?

I don't know why he didn't just wait for the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner to sort of make a ruling and then run that by-election if it came to it.

Because for him, that's the narrative he wants.

The establishment are after me because they've got their own agenda and they don't want me to be Prime Minister.

And they're forcing me into this.

So, you know, come and stick it to the establishment.

And the other parties probably, like you say, they would contest it in that circumstance.

And so he would be running against actual candidates and they could have a debate about policy and politics, which is what he wants.

Instead, he's chosen to run this slightly sort of pantomime version of it before it could potentially happen again.
