And I remember one time when I was walking into court and I rarely gave comments, but one time I did and I said, well, the ABC are meant to be the good guys.

And if the good guys are behaving this appallingly, what hope do we have?

Like what are the bad guys doing?

And so I think that was what's really heartbreaking for me, but I think for a lot of the Australian public, they were really heartbroken because as so many things in our democracy are under threat with the rise of populism politics, with One Nation, with the criminalisation of protests, infringement on civil liberties, we really do need our media to hold power to account and not cower and bow to power.

So how do we trust?

Trust is earned.

We have to see repeated behaviour and repeated instances of when the ABC can withstand lobbying.

At the moment, Grace Tame is under attack again.

We have to see them back their staff.

We have to see them shrug off or ignore attacks by the Australian.

Part of the federal court judgment actually said that, in his words, Justice Rangy, the ABC went into, to quote...

a state of panic because the Australian were wanting to write an article about me because they'd been briefed or they had been chatting to the Lawyers for Israel WhatsApp group.

And the ABC panicked.

They're going to have to beat the story, was one of one of the middle management had said in a text message, which we'd subpoenaed.

And so I think we need repeated examples where they can withstand pressure, whether that's pressure from the government, pressure from the gas lobby, pressure from whoever.

Yeah.

And defend and protect your staff.

And defend your staff.

Because we also saw in subpoenaed emails, Aita Batros referred to me as, we owe her nothing.
