And so she's like, there are women who have to travel hundreds and hundreds of kilometres to find a doctor.
Yeah.
So she's pointing out that even in her 80s... Yeah.
Yeah, she's about 85.
She's still... She's like, my work hasn't stopped.
And so for me, it was a reminder that...
Changes can be won, they can be wound back or threatened in some ways and that there has to be eternal vigilance and that we can't be complacent.
And so that's one woman I go to.
The other is probably Marowa Johnson.
She's a First Nations woman.
And she, in her early 20s, led a campaign against a billionaire coal miner to stop a coal mine in her community because of the impact it was going to have, not only on the environment, but to her tribe's connection to land and country and their ancestry.
And it was the first time the court...
that it was an attack on the human rights of Indigenous people, not just an environmental right, but actual human rights.
They invoked the Human Rights Act in Queensland to stop this coal mine.
But after that win, she was like, what's next?
When I interviewed her in the book, we were both feeling exhausted and we're both feeling overwhelmed.
And I said to her, look, I was hoping to speak to you because I'm tired and I was hoping to get a bit of, you know, bravado or something from you.
She's like, I'm tired too.
She's like, but my ancestors, First Nations women have never stopped fighting, even in the most dire of circumstances with the most dire indicators.
