if we have a similar size evening meal it'll be that bit smaller.
That can be kind of a way around that.
Often it's a lighter meal, isn't it?
Um anytime I suppose I've been in in Spain or talking to people who've lived in Spain, it mightn't be a big heavy meal that they're having that kind of late in the evening.
And it might be something that's a bit more rich in, say, protein.
And that in itself might be um whether it's either easier to digest or just not as large a portion size, meaning that they can sleep a little bit better.
Whereas I reckon if they're having a
big big meal come the evening, that mightn't necessarily help health wise in the long term.
So theoretically we ideally wouldn't want to be having something high sugar kind of in the evening before bed 'cause it can impact sleep and can potentially be stored um
However, it really again it depends on what suits the individual.
And it's not a case of every single chocolate bar you have in the evening is com is stored as fat straight away, whereas it's not at lunchtime.
It's not as black and white as that, but it can be a better option to, you know, front load the day a little bit more and potentially having that treat after lunch might be a better option.
Ideally what we're looking for there is I often would encourage um clients in clinic to try and pair food groups together in snacks.
So what we don't want is having just um
um a really carb rich snack, so like a chocolate bar.
That's sugar's the most simple form of carbs.
Because what happens there is it kind of gives you a little bit of something and it gets your energy levels up only very short term.
But what goes up must come down.
So if we were to pair something with a bit of carbs and bit of protein, so maybe it could be a banana with a yogurt or some fruit with yogurt.
Um or it could be sliced apple with peanut butter.
