Yeah, great question.
So although we will never demonize fruit, it's wonderful in an ideal world.
Again, if we're going to look at the perfect option, we're having more veg than fruit in a day to day.
But for a lot of kids, that might not happen.
And I'd still rather they had the fruit.
But say if we did manage to have five portions of fruit and veg in a day, ideally three of them would be your veg and two of them fruit, for example.
So very little.
Fresh and frozen are perfectly good options.
What I love particularly say berries.
Having frozen berries just as nutritious.
They pick and they pack them so quickly so that they lock in a lot of the moisture.
Sorry, not the moisture, a lot of the nutrients.
And as long as, again, you're not kind of overcooking them when they're being defrosted, it maintains a lot of the nutrients there too.
And it is far more cost effective, less food spoilage.
So absolutely no reason why you'd have to go fresh over frozen.
So firstly, it's always good to remember that food preferences and some amount of fussy eating is very, very normal for everybody and including kids.
But remember too that it can take 10 to 15 times or actually in some cases more for a child to be exposed to a new food, particularly say vegetables, before they accept it.
So having food on their plate, so whether it's, you know, your sliced carrots or salad stuff in the middle of the table, having it exposed to the child means that they'll be more likely to accept it over time.
If we start putting pressure and expecting them to have it the first time they're offered it, that's where we tend to potentially cause issues.
The less pressure we put on them, the more it's just a normal thing having it around.
