And as you said, like a middling swingman type with the Rockies, reinvents himself through like the Cincinnati Reds days and breaks out with the Phillies as legit in 23 and 24, one of the best relievers of baseball, like just as shut down as it gets for those Phillies teams and then signs a big deal with the Blue Jays and pitches incredibly in the postseason right up until like Miguel Vargas, essentially, but up until then was absolutely lights out.
uh in the playoffs this is after multiple failed physicals with other organizations that wanted to turn him into a starter and he ended up losing a lot of money through those processes and now he's just having to adjust and adapt again like it's been the story of his career much as it's the story of every pitcher's career really but um i think the peaks and valleys with hoffman have been probably more extreme than they are for your typical pitcher
And you're kind of seeing that play out a bit of a microcosm this year where you get this guy who has like the really ugly results that he's seen thus far while also getting whiffs like on four out of 10 pitches and striking out four out of 10 batters that he faces.
and not really given up hard contact at all he's allowed only two barrels so far like that's tied for the third fewest among qualified relievers so it's just been extremes with Jeff Hoffman this season and honestly throughout his entire career for sure okay we'll leave it there for now and we will come back soon to discuss more about the Toronto Blue Jays on at the letters
I thought it was just completely normal like I thought it was just one of those innocuous benign comments that gets blown out of proportion when it in a market like New York when a team is Metsing as hard as the Mets have been so like I bet you that like Soto and like I don't know who he's close with on that team but if it's Francisco Alvarez or Luis Robert Jr.
I bet you that he was texting with those guys.
I think he just, in an answer to a question, was like, no, like I haven't talked to them much because they've been on the road.
I'm sure there's like a group chat he could have dropped a couple emojis into, but there wasn't a lot to celebrate, right?
So there wasn't, you know, a lot of muscle emojis to drop in there, fireworks or anything.
So I thought it was completely normal and benign.
But, you know, this is New York and these are the Mets.
Anyone got a good Netflix recommendation?
Hey guys, we got to really get this together and turn this around and everyone just like ignoring it.
It's like everybody reading it and no responses, something like that.
And we're going to kind of leave it at that.
Yeah, the only notification in the group chat might have been whoever was just optioned has left the chat.
