I think the president's gonna be looking for a quick and quiet off ramp after the midterms.

Like that that the math doesn't math to me on that.

Yes.

It's interesting to think about the power among our allies being more distributed.

I read this piece somewhat convinced, but also somewhat unconvinced about the fact that the US is gonna have a diminished role amongst its allies.

We are still the behemoth on the world stage, especially amongst Western democracies.

I don't think

Any amount of bluster or like adventurism is gonna change the basic economic facts of that anytime soon.

But the thing that's sort of unsaid or hinted at in this article that I get concerned about is what are the negotiations or deals that are happening that we're just not being a part of.

Maybe it will be better for global security that

India and South Korea and Australia and Europe and South America and South Africa et cetera et cetera all have to consider their own defenses a little bit more, maybe that is better.

But the lack of cooperation, coordination that I think might come from the US having a diminished role will probably not be good in the short term if that does come to pass.

I still think the fact that we are such a behemoth on the stage gives us immense leverage.

But the chances of us missing out on trade deals or economic pacts or

arm and armament deals, like that, that just gets a little bit higher now.

And it does make me feel a little bit concerned about what the next year will bring.

Maybe it does mean more stability to your point, Camille, but I think it would also mean a little bit of instability in the short term for the US economically on the global stage.

You know, I think I I'm prepared to argue the opposite.

That I do think these are values that were worthwhile, that were in some ways I think um

were successfully achieved even.
