speak and articulate reasonably well because, I mean, when you're in business school or even after that, this is something that you will need to do, talk to people, you know, kind of like an elevator pitch, right?
So when you're interviewing for jobs or when you're even sort of getting, you know,
team met for a case study.
So you need to sort of give your quick pitch to someone and convince them.
And I think this is sort of like the microcosm of it, where schools want to see, can you think quickly on the feed?
At the same time, can you not sound too scripted?
Because here's the other thing that I also tell applicants, if you want to prepare, sure, but you don't want to over-prepare to the extent that, let's say you prepared
50 questions and you see one of them uh you know coincidentally pop up on the screen you will if you sound too robotic it defeats the purpose because you're not actually giving them what they want to see which is a natural and authentic version of who uh who you are and how you communicate and how you respond to questions that's just shown to you right so um i think overall my
sort of one short message would be just approach it as you speak to an adcom or a representative or someone at the end of the screen.
It's just that there's no one there.
They're going to view the video after you submit it and it goes to their systems or not.
But the moment that I think you tend to think of it as you're actually having a conversation, it sometimes eases some of the stress and it makes you sort of at ease and converse in a way that you would when you're just thinking you're talking to a computer that's just popping up questions on screen.
So I tell them that when we start working together, especially for a school like INSEAD, as you said, that has this component with them, I think a good proxy is when you go through the written text essays as part of the application, right?
Not the key dot text, but the written text essays.
When you're churning out your initial drafts, how is your thought process like?
I mean, sure, those are a different ballgame.
Those are whatever, 500 words, and you obviously have a lot of time.
You can iterate and so on.
But that comes down to my first piece of advice is structure, structure and structure.
Whenever you see a question, try to structure at least broadly.
