So coming from India.
So that was something that I had in mind about the whole US scenario and employment opportunities, visas, et cetera, and so on.
Something that was reassuring and sort of, to be honest,
Inspiring was the team, Sherry Hubert, sharing that they still have the focus and commitment towards diversity, sort of global teams and having more international students in the class in terms of both
sort of encouraging different viewpoints and, you know, people from very different backgrounds.
Something that I think also came up, this was more in the team discussions that we had that Joy was talking about earlier, was that they wanted also here in the essays and in the application process from especially international candidates applying to Duke on your career plans, do you have, are you very rigid or are you flexible?
So maybe we'll talk about this a bit when we have that topic.
Eric, I saw that.
on the document.
But I think that was something that was interesting because, you know, if somebody is just saying, I want to go to McKinsey, New York, you know, maybe they're not hiring that year when, you know, you graduate, or maybe they're not hiring as many as they used to or so on, versus somebody that's a bit more flexible geographically, or even, you know, in terms of maybe looking at more boutique firms or midsize firms or so on, was something which I felt was an interesting takeaway to take to international candidates.
I think that's a great point.
And I'd start off with saying that a lot of applicants that I speak to, and I'm guessing your folks as well, are a bit stressed about video essay, because they're used to either
thinking that it's all text or you have more time to prepare drafts, iterations, and so on.
And then here comes this sort of topic where you're asked to answer a question within a minute, or maybe you're given 10 to 30 or 45 seconds, depending on the school, to prepare.
And then you're supposed to hit record and submit it.
which generally stresses people and uh um and especially indian applicants if i may because you know uh we like to think and you know take our time and sort of respond and this is more spontaneous so this uh would i sound perfect or would i sound really you know as good as i want to sound is i think subconsciously making applicants stressful but when i sort of see that i
ask them to kind of take a step back and see why our ad cons are asking for this in the first place.
Yeah, I mean, there's some schools have added video essays to text essays, so it's not like they've replaced the text essays per se, but maybe some schools have pretty much done away with text essays, like Booth, where there's very short answers and then there's a video assessment that comes in along with intuition, right?
But then there's other schools, right?
Kellogg or INSEAD and LBS and so on that still have text essays and this is an additional layer of that that goes in where they're actually trying to see how do you respond spontaneously I mean in terms of can you think can you have some broad structure on your feet to the question that you're seeing on the screen and are you honest are you authentic and can you sort of
