Yeah, absolutely.
You know, I one thing that Monica mentioned is that there are harms that are associated with really strict precautions.
I I think with every uh preventive medical intervention, we in geriatrics often think about what are the short-term harms here?
Because especially people who live in nursing facilities or those who are seriously ill might experience more of those short-term harms than the long-term
benefits in terms of infectious precautions.
And so what we were finding in our study, which was started early on in the pandemic, just a few weeks after shelter-in-place orders were started, were people were actually adapting pretty well to the restrictions.
You know, they they understood the need
to stay safe, to protect their community, um, and um to be responsible.
And um so we actually found that loneliness levels were high initially, but then started to come down over the you know next few months.
But what we found more recently um when we surveyed people in the last few months is that people are experiencing fatigue.
Um, they are um tired of a lot of these restrictions.
And many people, you know, they just need to see the light at the end of the tunnel, um, especially people who may be in the last years of life, last months of life.
Uh so I think, you know, they felt like they've done everything right, they've adopted new technologies.
They've been really patient in waiting to see, you know, their grandchildren and their children for over a year now.
And I think people are really hoping um that things will start to open up and um, you know, that that that they'll be able to reform some of those really important social connections.
