And part of the ways that that's starting to show is in having three nominees for Surgeon General.

It's all power games, right?
Yeah.
So on top of all those negative reactions, there's also this new wave of reporting about like, who is this new Surgeon General nominee?
And one of the things that they find in that reporting is that there are pretty significant gaps between how she describes her residency and how other people at her residency described her at her residency.
Okay.
Vanity Fair interviewed the chair of the department where her residency took place, who said that Casey Means found the job, quote unquote, too stressful that she quit in tears and that other residents had to, quote, cover for her and were a small department.
And all the calls fall on them.
Two other residents who served with her in the same department at the same time said that she was very anxious and primarily like afraid of hurting patients.
So all of this leads up to Casey Means' confirmation hearing, which happened in February of this year.
Her initial confirmation hearing was scheduled for October 2025, but it was postponed when she went into labor with her child.
Initially, the confirmation hearing is scheduled for October.
It ends up taking place in February after her parental leave.
And in that time, the conditions and the sort of political calculus here really change.
Among other things, the chair of the committee where the confirmation hearing will happen, the HELP committee,
is Bill Cassidy.
