And, and they died there too.
So it's really tragic what we're seeing right now.
Sure.
I mean, there's lawsuits underway already, and there have been lawsuits against these facilities for decades.
In fact, much of what we know about these facilities comes out of lawsuits where, again, very often the lawsuits take so long and the agency and its subcontractors fight so much that
against transparency and accountability that it makes it hard for remedies to sort of arrive in time for people who are held there now.
But we know from lawsuits over the last decades that these facilities have ultimately been found culpable and liable for not providing adequate care and for contributing, exacerbating, or causing the death and medical hardship for people.
So yes, absolutely.
And the question is just, how long will it take to wind through the courts?
Under normal circumstances, you know, any sort of responsible agency would want some accountability mechanisms in place so that when things do go wrong, there is a way to address these issues internally without costing taxpayers all the money of having to take lawsuits to court, which it
It does cost our taxpayer dollars, goes to paying for the attorneys and U.S.
attorneys to fight these cases into the Department of Justice.
It costs people who are trying to fight these cases time and effort and attorney's fees and all of that.
So it's a really expensive endeavor.
But again, this is not an agency that's ever loved accountability and oversight by any means.
But this administration has certainly completely trashed whatever, you know,
little bit of accountability and oversight was was in place when at the start of the administration.
Yeah, that's right.
And one thing I have to qualify with this administration is even within that category of other immigration violator, in the past, it was a little bit more certain that those individuals probably were very likely or did have a removal order or some clear immigration violations.
But what we've seen this administration do is arrest people who are in the country lawfully, who entered the country lawfully.
