Uh you you write about its effects and they are heart-wrenching.
You know, British colonialism that Zimbabwe and even India was under, as an empire of violence and death, torture and rape, all of these, right?
And then you connect this
These ongoing effects with your personal life.
So that's where we're going now, right?
Your mother's nervous breakdowns, as she called them, your father's uh problems with alcohol.
Thinking about this colonialism, how did it leak into the lives of people close to you?
You know, in very real ways, um, in ways that we talk about, you know, in terms of mental health.
Right.
And I think it really comes through in the example you give with your mother at some point, you know, given all of these policies, uh, you're right that uh Zimbabwe reached a point of hyperinflation where inflation doubled every other day.
And uh we can think about your mother's nervous breakdowns as, you know, somebody might have said, Oh, it's it's a chemical imbalance or is it's a this thing, but you right that they always came around time of economic insecurity and uncertainty.
We're talking about debt, right?
That's what you mentioned.
And the diagnosis of debt you called it.
So let's make this connection explicit for people.
