So then I'm like, well, now he needs a book.

And Kate and Jackson, I went back and forth for a really long time about whether to give them a book, whether it should be a prequel or what.

But then their story came to me and I was like, this feels so much more fitting.

Because when I think about their original love story, I really think it was just simple.

They met.

There wasn't any drama.

There was no real conflict.

So I don't think it would have necessarily made that interesting of a story.

But...

It's an emotional one.

I keep getting messages from readers and they're like, I'm crying and I'm only 10% in.

And every time I just say, I wish that I could tell you it gets better soon, but it really doesn't.

It's rough for quite a while.

Yeah.

So I had read a couple amnesia books long ago.

And when I decided that I didn't want them to have a prequel and that it was going to be a marriage in crisis, then I was like, well, what is...

What's going to be this thing that forces them apart?

And again, because they're that steady, stable, so madly in love couple through the first four books.

I was like, well, I can't just all of a sudden now be like, oh, and they drifted apart and they already have kids.

So it's probably not going to be an issue of whether or not to have children or infertility like we see in a lot of those other marriage and trouble type books.
