in kindergarten and first grade, some behaviors may just seem like a child is maturing a little bit later than their peers.

But by that second and third grade age, you can really see what is typical and what may not be as typical.

So if that does happen, thankfully, like I um like I've said, my district

where a lot of those IEPs are put into place.

So it just depends, but most schools have

Or should have good systems in place so that the classroom teacher feels comfortable reaching out to the right people if they do notice things that are atypical.

Or again, along the same lines, if parents have concerns, parents of course have the right to reach out to the classroom teacher and share those concerns.

And again, that's where an observation in the classroom

uh a parent observation in the classroom may be very important in case a child is, you know, maybe behaving behaving differently at home than at school.

So if a teacher notices it or a parent notices it, they should be able to reach out to the right people.

Well, I would say that the most important thing is to reach out sooner rather than later.

Because even though it may be a minor concern, maybe maybe a parent is noticing something that you're not sure, like maybe it is typical, maybe it's not typical, really just on the fence, I would still bring it to the teacher's attention.

And then that way it can be as a classroom teacher, it can be on my radar as well.

And hopefully parents will feel comfortable doing that.

I know that as a classroom teacher.

teacher for me, like there would be no judgment there and

I'm so happy when parents are open and honest with me.

So I would say to reach out sooner rather than later and just through email or phone or whatever is best and and just be honest about what as a parent, maybe what you're seeing or what you're concerned about, maybe what you've noticed at home.
