And I'm not even kissing these boys.

Like it was the most like basic, you know, dating experience.

And it wasn't until I became an older teenager that I started to realize that it was becoming more serious.

You know, these boys that wanted to date me, I was like, oh, they're going to want to hang out on the weekends.

And I don't know how to explain to them that I can't do that.

I think that was half the thing too.

It was like, yes, I knew that it probably wasn't socially acceptable.

I just don't think I always had the language to tell them and I knew it was something I was embarrassed about.

I was terrified that they might want to come and I didn't want them to come.

I kind of didn't want my worlds to collide.

I really liked that I had this little pocket of where I could be me and it didn't cross over into the cold.

And I remember once we had a barbecue at the local skate park and I was terrified that I would see some of the kids from school there.

Yeah.

Just, yeah, I was like my worlds can't collide, which kind of ultimately ended up happening.

There was this guy that was really interested in me, got my home phone number before we had mobiles.

And he rang my home phone and my dad answered.

And I remember hearing, I must have quickly clued on what was happening.

And I remember just hiding behind the couch, listening to my dad talk to this poor 15-year-old boy, saying to him, you can't ask my daughter out unless you're going to marry her, which wouldn't have happened

anyway because he wasn't in the cult so there was no way, you know, so it was just a 15-year-old guy is like, yeah, I think I'll leave it.

Yeah, maybe I'm not interested after it.
