Like that.

Yeah.

And so I was terrified of them.

I would try not to engage as much as I could and I would often try and avoid them.

And one day we had arrived for the Sunday service and I went to go walk into the meeting hall and the pastor said,

looked at me and said, hello.

And I just said, hello back.

But I didn't use his full name.

I didn't say hello, pastor, such and such.

And immediately he took offense to that and thought it was disrespectful and that I should use his full name.

My dad was right there.

And so I immediately grabbed my hand, takes me into the kitchen and starts hitting me.

And everyone's coming in and out of the kitchen, you know, getting their stuff ready for lunch and, you know, putting their bags in and just ignoring me being hit and crying.

And then it just became this ongoing saga for months after that where it was almost like that thing where it became so, it gave me so much anxiety that no matter how much I tried, I couldn't.

So like every Sunday it was like, okay, you need to go over to him and you need to say hello.

And they just saw it as a point of pride.

Like no one looked at me and was like, oh, Bec's really anxious.

So, you know, I feel like now you'd be like, how can we nurture and help our kid get over this?

It was, this is a point of pride.

It was embarrassing my parents.
