People, people do feel this.
They feel that they are powerless, that despite like so much good intentions and so much, whether it be outrage or like whatever the issue is, like drive to solve problem that no real change has come of it.
And I think like that.
partly explains you know these new phenomenons or maybe not new but more prevalent phenomenons of like look smaxing and over consumption culture um i think it's a subconscious attempt to make yourself feel like you're in control of at least something like whether or not be the world around you it's the world within you um or immediately around you um and like over consumption culture i think is like a feeble attempt to ground yourself in something tangible i don't know
Um, but also I do want to say there are exceptions.
So I know that sounds like so doomy gloomy and this is like mostly applying to Western, uh, society, but there are examples, um, that break this theory.
For example, um, I believe it was last year, the Nepal government, uh, essentially was going like dictator style and they were like,
We are going to ban all social media to censor you all because you're saying mean things about us little politicians.
And within 48 fucking hours, the entire government was overthrown.
48 hours.
The youths were organizing on like discord, like literally discord to overthrow this government in like 48 hours.
They did 100% of the work that I think people have done, maybe 1% of the work in Western societies to do.
So there's obviously, it's not like it's a futile thing that like politics in general or like activism, but there is...
I really don't know what the roadblocks are in Western society.
I think in the U.S., for example, there is, like, you know, it's a two-party system.
And both are kind of the same.
I used to, like, be a little bit naive and think, oh, like... Like, obviously, I was like... I mean, I don't have any skin in the game because I'm not a citizen.
But I was like...
like vote blue no matter what and still like i think that is the best path and that's the i mean it's the only kind of like path but um at the same time there are so many qualities that both the um like like democratic party and the republican party share
