Chest press or bench press, right?
Um, my last two, I'm fighting for dear life to get that up there, right?
You know, it it is it is a struggle to get that last one.
And then I I I'll I'll stay up on top for maybe five seconds, you know, to give my muscle just a second, you know, of like a breather.
And then I'm down again and and I'm I'm putting everything, including my back in improper form that you can possibly imagine, to get so I don't die as I get that last one up.
Well, but but it should give you an understanding of like where, you know, you need to take your muscles to from a fatigue perspective.
It's not about that ten number, it's not about that twelve number.
Now, if you're using it as as as a barometer of when you should go up or down in weight, you know, typically anywhere between five to fifteen or even five to twenty reps is gonna be perfectly fine.
You know, they've shown in the data studies, you know, to gr you know that we we've
talked about this before on the podcast, but there's two different types of muscle muscle fibers, right?
You have your your slow twitch and fast twitch muscle fibers.
And you know the the the fast uh fast acting muscles your your fast twitch uh fibers those are the ones that give you the kind of like the power the explosion and the strength right but they don't necessarily grow in size and most people you know want aesthetics you know as well as strength on top of it and so if you're if you're if you're a power lifter
After, you know, doing between one and five reps is typically your standard workout routine because you're just focused on this on the on the strength component, right?
But when you start going above five, you know, above above five, so anywhere in between the five to fifteen range, you're focusing on those slow twitch, those more endurance muscles, which grow much larger in size and volume because they they have to be able to equate more endurance um as you're doing it.
So when you think about it, you know, when I start off on weights, I'm typically trying to start off a weight in the eight, ten rep range, right?
And I and I do a pyramid.
So a lot of people um try to build up in strength, you know, like so they'll start off with a light set that you know they can get maybe 10 to 15 or 15 to 20, and then they they go up in weight again, and then you know maybe they they sneak out twelve and then they
They go up again and they get eight.
It's that that's perfectly fine.
What I find is is I I typically try to go like between the the seven to ten range on my first set.
