You can argue that people's views there aren't perfectly linked up.

But people like team evaluators have to balance

And the closer you get to free agency, the more that what have you done for me lately picks up in importance.
Because, hey, man, the models are all well and good, but if this guy's going to be a free agent in six weeks and he's not hitting well, I don't care.
Whereas if it's eight years, okay, fine.
