It's likely going to be one of their guys, I would assume, in their organization.
I mean, if there are free agents that are out there,
that are functional starters.
I'm just not remembering them or thinking of them right now.
Speaking of the Marlins being in town, when Chris Paddock got released, I thought maybe the Blue Jays would take a shot, but they ended up not being the team to pick him up.
So they're going to have to get someone.
I think John Schneider said at least 70 pitches.
And I would guess that they're shooting for even more than that, to be honest.
I think that they're hoping to get someone
Kind of like in the mold they got Patrick Corbin, where maybe they're not pushing them to go 100 pitches because of the relative, you know, get through the lineup twice and get out kind of nature of a fifth starter.
But someone who can do it when they need to because they can't afford to, especially two and three dates is how it lines up right now.
To have two bullpen days in a three-day span, that's like nearly untenable for any organization, let alone just the Blue Jays.
It's pure speculation for me, to be honest.
They've seen a little vote.
They've seen a little bit of Fleming.
You could argue that that's going to help those guys.
If you made me bet on one right now, I might go Van Eyck.
I think he's had a pretty nice year at AAA.
He's been in their system for...
A while at this point, he had a pretty nice winter league season as well and thought that for whatever it's worth, that he looked pretty good in spring training too.
