So I had to stay off for about a year.
And...
went on benefits, income support, which did the job.
You know, it tidied me over for a year.
It was tough, but I did it.
And I got a newborn baby.
You know, I was staying in.
It wasn't awful.
but as soon as you went back to work even if you went back to do a part-time job everything stopped yeah so it's so much better now because you have got the flexibility to be able to work part-time you hadn't then so all the single moms were either out of work for years or they were all working full-time they weren't doing part-time incentive to get into work because you just lost everything
Yeah, everything.
The only thing you got was your 25% discount for council tax.
And child benefit, yeah.
So, yeah, you lost everything.
It wasn't great.
It didn't really encourage you to want to go out to work.
But my philosophy was I can't better myself and I can't better Damien's life unless I'm working.
Because, as you know, with the benefits, it's a fixed amount of money.
You just scrape through on it.
No, you can't build on it.
And, you know, we'd have situations where the washing machine would blow up or something could happen and out comes the credit card.
