That's wonderful.
So you found yourself on the cusp of a university education after all these years, taking this quite winding route to that pathway.
And you started a Bachelor of Arts at university.
What were your subjects?
And studying anthropology actually helped change your perspective on your time at the Abbotsford Convent?
So how did you...
sort of step back and see your life as a young girl at the convent and the lives of your sisters, not simply as an individual story, but as part of this bigger fabric of, you know, really the story and the experience of women and girls of that era.
He was the premier at the time.
So you returned to the convent with a grant to be a poet in residence.
And you've reached out to all these women who probably have a very similar experience to you.
What was the response like?
What struck you, speaking to dozens of women who had lived at the convent, about their stories?
And what about in your own family when you were raising your sons?
Did you tell them much about your life in the orphanage?
No.
That's interesting.
Why not?
Must have been liberating then to finally be able to explore all of this through the poetry and see the links between your stories and other women's stories.
It was, yeah.
I do want to go back, Patricia, to the grant, because by the time you returned to the convent as a resident poet, it had been transformed into what it is now today, this hive of creative activity.
