The game that he plays really fits the Flyers' need.
I mean, honestly, I think a good comparison.
I'm not the first one who's made it.
But think of Sasha Barkov with maybe a little bit more scoring as he hits his prime.
I really think Carlson can and will be that kind of player.
And the Flyers don't have a number one center.
They still don't because of this.
But I think when you add those things in, that one other element, too, that Bob Murray was the longtime general manager, of course, in Anaheim, and picking his brain, they probably asked him, okay, what would be the kind of a contract that management might say no to?
Right?
And then, so they added that in and thought, okay, the odds are not great, but we have a fighting chance.
And, you know, I mean, the Flyers, among other teams, had inquired, okay, is there a trade possibility where we might be able to interest you?
And the answer was no.
Okay?
So if the player's untouchable in a trade, well, you try an offer sheet if you want the player badly enough.
So I...
Of course, in the short term, the Flyers still don't have a number one center, and Anaheim has the player.
But I do think, at least longer term, it showed to the players on the Flyers' team, it showed to the fans of Philadelphia, and it showed to agents, too, that if the Flyers want a player badly enough, they are willing to spend and go after that player.
His game is really, really growing.
