First of all, one of the biggest impediments we had was you needed to have a D licence, which is a heavy goods vehicles licence.

And that market's dried up.

So we just don't have people in this country or anywhere else in Europe that does a profound amount of D licence drivers.

We changed our criteria to be licensed now.

So if you're a car driver with a clean license for two years, you can apply for a job in Dublin Bus.

Now, what that's meant is we need to elongate the training time and to actually get them up to the level of the license and so on.

But we've done that and that's worked really well.

So the amount of people interested in becoming a bus driver now is not our main issue.

We just need to get them in, get them trained and processed through the system.

From a mechanics point of view, that's probably a bigger issue.

We can't get qualified mechanics in Ireland.

We could do a whole other podcast on lack of tradespeople in this country.

And there's various different reasons.

It comes up regularly enough on this.

And there's various different reasons for that.

But effectively, we lost a generation of tradespeople.

We've brought in over 60 people from the Philippines in the last two years to work as mechanics in the organisation.

So now getting the number of drivers we need, getting the number of mechanics we need, that will improve reliability and punctuality.

And then, look, I can't go away without mentioning congestion in the city and the variability of that congestion.

So if you think about it, I'm trying to provide a service Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which is scheduled service, right?
