And I think that that's true of many of these people.
Apparently, having been a senator, having made millions, having become famous.
is not sufficient.
It is impossible for you to imagine living when you're no longer in the Senate.
So I think that was Lindsey Graham.
I think, as is often true with people, his whole identity was wrapped up with being a senator, and he would do anything that he needed to do to hold on to that job.
which is true, I think, of most Republicans.
And by the way, this is not that unique.
The historian in me wants to point out that Henry Cabot Lodge did exactly the same thing when he came out against the League of Nations in 1919, which he had supported for a decade before that.
So welcome to American politics to some extent.
It's just the problem that in this case, it's not just switching policies and switching parties.
It's also deciding to support a dictator.
That puts a special flavor on it.
No, I 100 percent agree.
I'm not trying to I'm not trying to let him off the hook.
You were just asking whether it's possible that he did any good in this.
But weighted against the good he did is what you're saying, which is everybody who gave him legitimacy.
And then, by the way, that goes to H.R.
McMaster in the first term, too.
I mean, it isn't just the Lindsey Grahams of this world.
